This is a spacious 2 bedroom villa with a resident helper and cook called Madureh. The owner lives in the property opposite and stays out of your way, although he offered to drive us to the tea plantation nearby for a small fee. It has a lot of colonial charm and if you're looking for something peaceful then this is perfect. The bedrooms are off a lovely little courtyard which is lit up beautifully in the evening. Beds are comfortable and have mosquito nets. The bathrooms are open air and nice if a little rustic. It's not luxurious but reasonably comfortable and made enjoyable by the charming and smiling Madureh who will go out of his way to help you and cook for you. He will even take you on a boat trip on the lake which is near his home. The only negatives I would say is the lack of comfort in the living room (no comfy sofas) and the dim lighting, but that is also part of its charm. The food is good (authentic Sri Lankan curries) but a little overpriced. All in all a nice place in a wonderful location (2 mins from the best beach in Galle area) and the beautiful Koggala Lake.
