We stayed for 2 nights in a deluxe cabana which was so nice inside. Beautiful spacious modern bathroom and lovely large sleeping area with comfortable bed and own private balcony. We were close to both pools which were clean and very refreshing.
The gardens are beautiful and the staff friendly and helpful. Short walk or tuk tuk ride (if you're feeling lazy) to the beach and lots of restaurants/cafes etc. close by.
We ate in the restaurant at Flower Garden and that was very nice too.
Could not fault this place and would highly recommend it. We really relaxed and thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

Cannot heap enough praise on this place. Great location but the realisation of just how good this place is grows on you the longer you stay. This place is quiet and well run by Lalith and his awesome staff, but if you want to party its within walking distance to the noise, then return for a peaceful sleep. Comfortable, clean, well maintained rooms. I'm a surfer from Oz and the main Hikkaduwa break is only a couple of hundred metres away and visible from the hotel. Food is beautiful, beer is cold. My wife fell ill before we checked in and got worse during our stay. We couldn't leave until she was better, and in hindsight, could not have lucked in to a better place to stay. Kilty, the restaurant manager and owner Lalith were brilliant and could not do enough for my wife. Special mention has to go to Kilty for going above and beyond taking genuine care of her. 3 times a day checking how she was and bringing up to our room his local remedies and food so she could rest and recover. The most comfortable spot on the beach, cold beer, good food and the best wi-fi in Hikkaduwa. Definatly my hotel of choice in Hikkaduwa, would not even look anywhere else, and I've travelled indo for many years.......Thanks again Lalith and staff......stay here people.

Room Tip: I liked the upstairs air-con rooms overlooking the pool. Deluxe rooms on the beachfront which are al...

1980's building, with large renovated rooms. Large room with Sri Lankan woodwork, huge modern bathroom, Good breezy restaurant, mostly buffet. Super friendly wait staff, could do with an injection of adrenaline to move faster, but hey we're in the tropics for some down-time. Long clean beach with day-beds. Many seafood restaurants at night along the beach. Two good pools, the red one is unusually stunning.

Room Tip: Cabins 601-602 by the beach are quite spartan and need stramit ceilings replaced with full woodwork...

We were only able to stay here one night after moving from another hotel but wished we could have stayed longer.

The location is perfect. On the beach front and right in the middle of all the shops/restaurants. There are beach beds as well as a nice spot in the centre of the hotel to lounge.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a budget room, but still clean and comfortable. The owner also arranged a taxi to the airport for a great price.

Fantastic value. We would definitely stay again.

We booked a deluxe and they gave us a standard room by the pool. There were women sitting outside talking loudly until late and we couldn't sleep. Our air con stopped working and they moved us to another room at 10pm which was worse, had a smaller bed. When we checked out, the guy at the desk Himesh kept arguing with us that they have not received that we booked a deluxe. He didn't have the decency to apologize once. He kept us waiting for their "manager" Manjula who didn't show up for an hour. There are way better hotels on the beach. This hotel is filled with mosquitos. Do NOT stay here!

Location: bang on the beach, in the middle of the action
Hotel: resort with multiple buildings, two swimming pools, beach bar & beach beds
Room: big with king bed, balcony, big bathroom
Positives: location
Negatives: bathroom had a damp smell
Ranking at time of writing: #16 out of 27 hotels in Unawatuna

The hotel is located on the beach in middle of all the action in Unawatuna and even though it doesn’t fall on Welle Dewalaya Road (which has most of the restaurants, spas, bars and disco) one can cut across rather easily. The hotel has a restaurant and a bar onsite which face the sea. One can lie down on the beach beds and order drinks from the bar. They have 2 swimming pools, again one on the beach which has a glass wall and the other within the resort which has a Jacuzzi.

Our room was reasonably sized and had a wardrobe, a table/chair and a double bed. The bathroom too was big but I wonder why certain hotels don’t use glass walls/shower curtains to cordon off the bathing area. Calamander does neither, hence the whole bathroom gets wet after a bath and probably that’s the reason why our bathroom had an uncomfortably damp smell.

We had a balcony but that overlooked the garden and the reception, so can’t really rave about the view. On that note, I’d highlight that the rooms in the annex building had better views – those of the pool and the beach.

The breakfast was a nice spread of Lankan dishes and the regular cereals, eggs etc. Their lunch buffet was slightly pricey for the spread, we skipped dinners.

The hotel is centrally located and offers beach access while at the same time allowing one to visit other restaurants and bars lining the beach. However, don't expect ultra luxury as the hotel is a bit dated but that is reflected in their price viz-a-viz the other hotels in Unawatuna.

We booked this place last minute and we couldn't be happier.
The staff were friendly and offered us high tea and juice on arrival. We stayed in the cottages. Basic but beautifully done. Clean and lots of extras, toothpaste, bite cream, water everyday two large bottles. It was some nice little touches.
Breakfast menu is great.
It is so quite there but you are moments from the beach and all the bars and restaurants.
I would highly recommend staying there.

Visited with family last week and wow this amazing setting was truly mind blowing. The location absolutely takes your breath away and the good things doesnt stop there. We stayed in one of the Eco rooms and it was a really different and nice experience. Quite yummy healthy food in Sri Lankan style, although they have offer other options as well we decided to stick with their specialty, Sri Lankan food. Manager and staff were very friendly and homely and provided five star attention to us. Early morning and late evenings are the best time to take a walk through the garden as you can watch a lot of birds and the nice environment.
We took the boat ride they organize as well, where we could get on board from the hotel border itself. A nice experience through the islands of the Madu River and they arranged a great chap to explain us through it! All in all great place for a relaxed holiday.
Waiting to go back again!

Room Tip: Eco Rooms are a great expirience not to miss, they do have luxury type AC rooms for those who do not...

There is nothing I didn't love about this hotel. Two private beautiful pools are very welcome in the heat. My cabana was beautiful with the biggest and most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. The food is so good that I was reluctant to eat anywhere else! A short walk to the beach and the staff are friendly but respectful of privacy. Loved staying here and highly recommend it.

Nice hotel with neat and clean rooms. Access road is really tight though facilities are good. Nice pool and dining area. Worth our one night stay and close to beach. Wifi is only available in dining area.

We arrived late after a day of travelling at 7:30pm. Our room was not ready, and so they 'upgraded us from the Superior Deluxe Cabana to a lesser room. We asked for the Cabana, and they then cleaned the room. Keys recorded at 9pm. We then discovered no water was flowing to the bathroom facilities, which were not re-enabled until the next morning - no shower, bath, sink water. Initially they had tried to go fob us off with 'it's impacting the whole area' - their restaurant facilities had full flowing water, so evidently not the case! We hear from other guests this had been happening for the previous 2 days. The reception staff were largely accommodating, however were not apologetic or understanding - suggests they have weathered quite a few complaints previously.

The gym is not as advertised - it does exist, however it has seen far better days. There are no free weights as mentioned on their site. There is a multi machine which is unmaintained & parts are unsafe (sticky weight movement, frayed wires etc). I have not fared use the running machines. I don't recommend this place if you are looking for a decent & usable gym.

The food at the restaurant is excellent - their "one shot one pot" is delicious!

The 2 pools are well maintained & relaxing. They were not too busy despite there being the a lot of guests when we stayed.

The room we had (Superior Deluxe Cabana) was nice - and as advertised. The furnishings were a bit dated, however you expect that in this part of the world. The room was clean.
