Elysium is one of the most beautiful villas on the Galle coastline and combined with the most helpful, attentive and discreet staff it makes for a perfect stay. The rooms are large and well decorated, the pool is vast and the food is some of the best I have had in Sri Lanka (which is saying something). The facilities are fantastic but it is the staff which made it unforgettable - we thoroughly recommend and will be back!

We had 3 peaceful nights at Ceilao Villas, which is set down a little lane off Jawatta Road in a quiet area of otherwise hectic Colombo. Our room was large, very clean and the bed firm & with quality linen.

We decided at checkin to have breakfast at the hotel. It was a good decision - the food was delicious and when had a look around after checkin there was not a lot of other choices nearby. Daily choice of Sri Lankan or Western breakfast, with each starting with fresh fruit & ending with "curd and treacle". Whilst curry may not be everyones idea of starting the day, we did it most days during our 3 week stay in SL. We also ordered a couple of room service meals/snacks & the food was very tasty each time.

We loved our stay here, and despite the lack of food options nearby, we liked the location. Being set back of the road a bit we found it very peaceful staying here. After a day out, the cabanas near the pool area are nice to relax in, and there is also a sitting area and a 'book corner' on the first floor if it is raining.

Came across Kaema Sutra Restaurant in the Arcade Independence Square, about 10 mins walk each way from Ceilao. Highly recommend it, we made return visit and wished we had been staying longer to go again - try the fish curry with pepper, yum! There are some restaurants in the other direction (also about 10-15 mins walk each way) but we didn't try them. If you don't want to walk, the tuk tuk's are cheap and plentiful, or the hotel's food is pretty good.

All the staff we dealt with at Ceilao Villas were extremely helpful and friendly, including arranging for a tuk tuk driver to buy 'at cost' some items not available on the hotel menu.

This hotel was located about 1 km from the beach and you can access the beach from their sister hotel. Rooms were good size with lots of amenities. When we arrived we were automatically upgraded to a wonderful room. The hotel had free wifi, nice pool and breakfast included. The staff were very helpful and always looking to make things better for you.

Room Tip: If you can, try to get upgraded - lovely rooms

Food interesting and varied. Great sea food. Rooms are large and comfortable reasonably equipped. Two have a wonderful view down to the beach others have large private balconies.
Great for tourists. A real touch of Sri Lanka with fishermen pulling in their long nets.

Room Tip: Two front rooms are best, but others fine

We stayed at the retreat hotel which is over the road, we came here for food & have to say we cannot fault it! We all had beautiful fresh fish and seafood. The food was perfect, the setting stunning & the service great, nothing was too much trouble for the fantastic staff. This restaurant should be in trip advisor top 5 at least!!

I was there with my family last Feb and we had a nice time around. The place is at one of the best beaches in Sri Lanka which is called Unawatuna Beach.

Food was great and there's a good variety too. There are 2 bars in operation one at the restaurant and the other at the beach. Rooms are clean and spacious and operated with Jacuzzi's in luxury rooms.

Next to the hotel there's a smal hill jungle called Rumassala which has a long legacy for it's origin. If you love a nice hike in the morning this is the place for you. It has a Japanese temple with a breathtaking view of the sea.

Only flip side of the hotel I noticed was the view from the rooms was not greatly designed. Rooms are exposed to either the pool side or the hotel it self rather than the beach and see. And there's no spa in the hotel too.

Room Tip: Luxury rooms has a Jacuzzi. View is nothing much on the room type

Where to start? We were three of around twenty friends who booked the entire villa complex. I wouldn't want my use of the word "complex" to give the wrong impression: Sri Villas feels like a lovely, rambling private home, not at all like a hotel. It does, however, offer all the bits and bobs that make a holiday everything one could wish for. The three villas sit loosely clustered around a beautiful pool which borders the garden which, in turn, reaches right to the beach, a postcard crescent of golden sand. The staff is fantastic, nothing's too much trouble. The rooms are light and breezy and not at all cramped or cluttered. Upstairs rooms have gorgeous sea views, a real treat with a gin and tonic in hand. Or two. There's no shortage of neighbourhood bars and restaurants, but there's no need to venture out if you feel like staying in: the Sri Villas kitchen puts on delicious Sri Lankan food, anything you like from pleasantly spiced to eye-wateringly hot. Anyway, enough of my yacking, it's a great place to stay. Highly recommended. Superb. Oh, one last thing: the beaches of Induruwa face almost due west, so the sunsets are absolutely stunning.

This was my second stay in this area and I returned here for a meal.
I am so glad I did as it was as good as it was two years prior.
It has a beautiful garden to sit in and excellent, friendly waiters.
The food is fantastic and good value for money.

The hotel is located on the Unawatuna Beach. It is an amazing beach, but the hotel is poor unfortunately. I have stayed at the hotel recently and cannot say good things about the hotel's condition. The standard rooms are not properly cleaned. When I checked in, the bed sheet and beach towels had some stains. Pillows looked like someone was sleeping and the staff forgot to change the pillow cases. Reception changed the room when I draw their attention to the cleanness of the room, but it didn't change much. I could see small spiders in the corners. The breakfast menu is limited and monotonous. The beach was the only positive experience.

Room Tip: recommend to select more superior rooms for better experience

We stayed 4 nights before travelling round sri Lanka. Although the room was basic, the location of the hotel was perfect, right on the beach. All the staff were very helpful and the food at breakfast and at the restaurant on the beach in the evening was beautiful. We also were able to use the sister hotel the Thaproban Retreat which was in a beautiful peaceful setting with a small pool.
